Success for Rural Bridgend
£1.7 million Boost For Rural Bridgend

The Bridgend Rural Partnership received approval for its Local Development Strategy (LDS) from the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) in July 2007. The Partnership has been invited to submit business plans for funding support under the RDP for Wales 2007 – 2013.
Business plans will be submitted in two bidding rounds as follows:
· Business Plan One – covering 1st January 2008 to 31st December 2010
· Business Plan Two – covering 1st January 2011 to 30th September 2013
WAG issued the Business Plan guidance to Partnerships on 28th June 2007 and projected timescales for submission and approval of business plans are as follows:

RDP Business Plan 2008 –10: Local Preparations
Because of the tight timescales and its limited experience of rural development work, BCBC has extended the commission of Miller Research consultants to help with the development of partnership arrangements and the production of the RDP business plan for rural Bridgend.
The Bridgend Rural Partnership assessed all Axis 3 initial project proposals submitted by the deadline of 14th September and invited the eligible short listed projects to submit full applications to be considered for inclusion in the Business Plan. The applications were received on 17th October 2007 and the Rural Partnership has endorsed the inclusion of all the projects in the business plan subject to further development work by 9th November 2007.
Next Steps
The Local Action Group will meet on 13th November 2007 to consider the draft business plan.
The Bridgend Rural Partnership will meet to consider the final business plan on 20th November.
The full business plan will be submitted to the Welsh Assembly Government by 30th November 2007.
RDP News July 2007
The Welsh Assembly Government approved the Local Development Strategy for Bridgend under the Rural Development Plan on 3rd July 2007.
