Details£9million regeneration boost for Bridgend town centre
A £9million programme of regeneration is set to transform Bridgend town centre boosting commercial confidence and creating employment opportunities in the area.
With a funding package comprising of over £7.7million from the European Regional Development Fund and the Targeted Match Fund (TMF), Bridgend County Borough Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund the town centre will be given a new lease of life.

Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout Europe have until 8 December 2010 to respond to a call for new project proposals under the Capacities programme areas of the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development, which will fund collaborative research and development projects.
The ‘Research for the Benefit of SMEs’ programme provides financial support to SMEs across the European Union to engage with research and technological development performers, such as universities and public research institutes, in order to undertake research and technological development projects to increase their research efforts, extend their networks and acquire technological know how.
Details£4 million boost to help over 50s back to work
A £4.3 million funding package to help people over 50 in Wales return to training and work has been announced as figures reveal that the number of jobless workers in the UK has increased by more than 50 per cent in a year. This is the highest figure in a decade.
Wales has the highest percentage of people aged over 50 in the UK so the Big Lottery Fund has made £4.3 million available to assist them to re-engage in education, learning, volunteering and employment.
